To understand the key characteristics of the most successful podcasts, we analyzed the data from the 2024 Spotify Spain Top 100 podcast ranking. This study provides a comprehensive view of how categories, episode duration, publishing frequency, and other factors contribute to success on the platform.

Goal

This study aims to analyze the main characteristics and trends of the podcasts that make up Spotify's Top 100 in Spain. By collecting and evaluating key data, such as producer type, publishing frequency, episode duration, and design and distribution strategies, we seek to identify patterns of success and provide practical insights for content creators and industry professionals. This analysis is intended to be a valuable tool for understanding the current podcasting landscape and supporting creators in optimizing their strategies to achieve greater visibility and audience engagement.

Methodology

The study was conducted using a combination of manual extraction and automated analysis of the RSS feeds of podcasts included in Spotify's Top 100 in Spain. Manual data collection allowed for the identification of unstructured key details, such as cover designs and communication strategies. In parallel, automated analysis focused on extracting information from the feeds, such as publishing frequency, average episode duration, and description content. This mixed methodology ensures a comprehensive and accurate perspective, combining detailed observation with efficient data processing.
